! Attention, the following text is not a privacy statement or legal advice, but is only a generic recommendation:

A privacy statement is a statement about how your site collects, uses, discloses and manages your site visitors' information. Swisscom cannot offer you legal advice for the preparation of a data protection declaration, as each website is individual. In the net there are numerous data privacy statement generators (Swissanwalt.ch / Dr. Schwenke), which can help you with the production of a data privacy statement. Since you should currently also consider local law in Switzerland together with the GDPR if necessary, we urgently recommend that you consult legal support from the Swiss Bar Association when preparing a data privacy statement. In principle, the following elements in particular should be taken into account in your data protection declaration:

  • Purpose(s) of data processing
  • Name and contact details of the person responsible and the data protection officer
  • Legal basis of data processing
  • The recipients of the data
  • The storage period of the data
  • If applicable, the extent to which you disclose your data to third parties (possibly in a third country or internationally).
  • Right to information and/or deletion of data
  • Declaration of the right of appeal to the data protection authority
  • Possibly the reference to Google Analytics

Further information about privacy and GDPR is available in our online FAQs.

Important HomepageTool supplement templates for your privacy statement:

Using standard contact forms
If you have created a standard HomepageTool contact form (widgets: "Contact form or form manager" or on the predefined "Job" page) and published it on your website, please include the following paragraph in your privacy statement:

"The details you entered will be stored for an unlimited period with any declaration of consent in an encrypted database (location: Switzerland). If you would like this data to be deleted, please contact us directly with your request."

Using the standard guest book
If you have created a standard HomepageTool guest book (widget: "Guest book") and published it on your website, please include the following paragraph in your privacy statement:

"The details you entered are stored for an unlimited period with any declaration of consent in an encrypted database (location: Switzerland). Please note that this function enables you to leave your personal details in a guest book entry. This information will be visible to website users. If you would like this data to be deleted, please contact us directly with your request."

Using the standard online shop

If you use an integrated online shop (widget: "Online Store") which is published on your website, you are using a third-party solution (Eciwid). Please include the following paragraph in your privacy statement and read the Ecwid privacy policy. Please note that some of your customers’ information may be processed by third parties (such as PayPal, Stripe or others), where possible also abroad. If this is the case, please read the specific privacy guidelines of the third party and integrate these into your privacy statement immediately.

"Orders in the Online Shop

Your orders in the Online Shop are stored for an unlimited period in an encrypted database. If you would like this data to be deleted, please contact us directly with your request.

Customer profile in the Online Shop (note for Shop customers)

When you place an order, an encrypted customer profile is also created for you. This simplifies the process for future orders. You can view and edit this profile and all the information it contains either through us or by using the login (request). If you would like this data to be deleted, please contact us directly with your request.

Please see the Online Shop privacy policy for more details"
